Accessioning Lab Assistant

This position requires a medical data entry background.
Applicant Duties:
Verifies patient demographics, physician data, tests requested, time and date of collection, appropriate clinical information and all other pertinent data found on laboratory request forms.
Understand all client test requests Identifies problems with specimens and works alongside client services to seek resolutions.
Accurately enters patient and specimen data into the Laboratory Information System.
Proficient data entry skills (50-90wpm) with a very minimal error rate:
no less than 95% accuracy.
Performs all job duties accurately and efficiently.
Applicant must meet the following job requirements:
HS diploma or equivalent 1 year laboratory data entry experience Must type at least 50 WPM Must be comfortable in a fast-paced environment Must be able to handle multiple task systems simultaneously Must be detail orientated with regards to data entry and excellent typing skills Must possess ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
Must possess ability to perform repetitive motion.
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
May be exposed to hazardous waste material including stain waste (i.
e.
, hematoxylin, eosin, etc.
) aromatic hydrocarbons (xylene), and other combustible organics (i.
e.
, ethyl alcohol and isopropanol).
May be required to handle blood-borne pathogens and general laboratory reagents.
